FAQ

Often, we get asked questions on a number of topics about the booking process and what is involved with contracts, riders, deposits, weather issues, food and beverage requirements and more.  Listed below are answers to some of the most common questions.

If you have any questions are booking celebrity and regional performers and/or production equipment, feel free to contact our offices at 925.449.1724 for a no obligation consultation.

Question - Does your service cost more than going directly to the performer?

In most cases we are able to secure a lower price on the artist than by going direct.  We have established long-term relationships with most of the agent and managers and this works in your favor.  We also try to "block book" wherever possible to tie in multiple offers for the desired artist.  This can lock in the artist at a lower price for all involved.

Question - When is it a good time to book an artist or equipment?

For most cases we suggest six months prior to your event unless you have a public engagement which is part of a subscription series, then it is advisable to book even earlier.

Question - Do I pay a deposit?

Usually a deposit of up to 50% is required to lock in your performers and equipment rentals. There tends to be more flexibility with equipment deposits versus for performers. In some cases you will be asked to pay a "binder" upon receipt of the agreement but most deposits are due between two to four months prior to your event.

Question - What is a rider?

A rider is an addendum to a contract that spells out technical, hospitality, logistical and contractual areas not covered in the actual artist agreement.  Many of these items are negotiable.  However, it is important to go through the rider and to understand what the artists expectations are.  At this point, this is where an experienced producer comes into play. This person can work on your behalf to make sure there are no surprises and that everyone's needs get covered the day of the event.

Question - What if my event is rained out. Do I get a refund?

In most cases your deposit and day of show payments are non-refundable unless agreed to in writing by the artist.  In some cases an artist will reschedule a performance but will still ask to be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses. Even still, the best insurance here is acquiring proper rain insurance.
